          Narayanan Vaghul, the father of private sector banking is no more. He leaves behind a strong institution in ICICI Bank, whose parent company he headed for 10 transformative years.

          He also leaves behind a large number of leaders in corporate India whom he mentored and myriad memories of how government and financial institutions ought to respect the rule of law and serve the public interest.

          Vaghul is remembered best for his seminal innings as chairman and managing director of ICICI Ltd, the financial institution from 1985-1995.
